Caedfael's interests and pursuits tend to be many and varied, and do go in and out of fashion with him, as the mood dictates!

In alphabetical order they are:

Biking both motorised and pedal power. In earlier days, like other youths of that period, he was the proud possessor of several large and powerful British bikes, e.g., B.S.A. Golden Flash and Norton International to name but two! He even had a career racing the "Inter" on the Midlands circuits. Nowadays though he contents himself with a 125cc Honda which is trailed behind his VW motor home (more about the VW later). To recapture his youth he also indulges in cycling using the power of his legs.

Bowls is increasingly becoming a major interest, especially in the summer months. This has tended to replace the more strenuous sports of earlier years. I did say his pelt was greying didn't I? Also it is a sport which is equally enjoyed by his wife.

Caravanning has, for the past 35 years, been well to the fore with this family. The first 12 years with a trailer van — the rest with VW motor homes. The change was brought about by the desire to take either a sailing dinghy or motor cycle along.

Computing is, obviously, another pursuit this bear finds himself drawn to. This particular interest originated from his desire to write which resulted in the purchase of an Amstrad PCW. From there one thing led to another. The current machine being somewhat more powerful than the humble Amstrad. Now if only it could be programmed to make a cuppa!

Sailing a 16 foot dinghy in the River Humber has to be experienced. During a sail you can experience a variety of weather, quite unlike any a sailor will meet on the average inland pond. The craft used is the all purpose Wayfarer. Ideally suited for even the wildest of conditions. Although somewhat heavy, on a suitable combination trailer, this craft tows extremely well behind the VW.

Writing was taken up shortly after retirement. Grand thoughts of producing a book still linger, but time seems to be spent elsewhere. Various publishers have taken several articles from his pen though, and it did lead him into the computing world!
